At the heart of TV innovation

DTG (Digital TV Group) : Plugfest

Fansy.ai is proud to have actively participated in the DTG Plugfest in London from February 24 to 28, 2025, a key event for testing and refining innovative TV technologies. As an official DTG Plugfest member, fansy.ai had the opportunity to showcase its groundbreaking prototype and engage with industry experts. Participants included renowned companies such as Samsung, LG, Sony, BBC, Sky, among others. The Digital TV Group (DTG) is a British organization founded in 1995 by major industry players such as BBC, BSkyB, BT Group, Channel 4, ITV, NTL Incorporated, Pace, and Sony. Its primary mission is to establish technical standards for implementing digital terrestrial television. As a center of innovation in digital media technology, the DTG plays a critical role in the development and dissemination of digital television.

Fansy.ai, a new member

Beyond the technical aspects, this Plugfest provided an exceptional human experience. The DTG team offered an especially warm and supportive welcome. What stood out most was the genuine and unanimous interest participants showed in our solution. Until now, no one had encountered such a direct approach to viewer engagement. We successfully tested our solution during a football match, facing several TVs from different brands, while dynamically manipulating our smartphone and our HDMI prototype. We experienced a brief moment of panic when our prototype suddenly stopped responding, leading us to fear a hardware issue. After some tense moments, we discovered that… the HDMI cable was simply poorly connected…In retrospect, it was an ironic and somewhat amusing incident, yet indicative of real-world challenges: testing in realistic conditions inevitably involves facing unexpected setbacks! We fully achieved our goal: confronting our technology with the complex ecosystem of smart TVs and gathering feedback from seasoned professionals, all within an environment conductive to interaction and synergy.

Collaboration & Interoperability

The interoperability of technological solutions is a major issue in the digital TV industry. Collaborations within organizations like the DTG promote the development of common standards, essential for ensuring compatibility between products from different manufacturers and avoiding market fragmentation. This collaborative approach is crucial for delivering a consistent and high-quality viewing experience to consumers, regardless of the diversity of available equipment and services. More broadly, in an increasingly platform-dominated market, strengthening synergies between manufacturers, software developers, and technical institutions like the DTG represents a strategic lever for innovation, ensuring overall coherence in the user’s journey. Ultimately, open standards and cross-sector partnerships will guarantee smarter television. How will the innovations tested at these events transform audience interactions with television? What role will solutions like fansy.ai play in this new landscape?
